Will I get "Seasick"?
No,
there is no feeling of motion in the balloon. The balloon is completely stable and
never swings or sways.
|
How high do balloons go?
Normal flights go
about 2,000 feet but the pilot may go higher to obtain various wind directions.
|
Can we land where we have launched?
That
would be a very rare occurrence. Balloons do not have steering devices. The
pilot directs the balloon by going up or down to obtain different wind directions.
|
What weather conditions do we need?
Generally
winds of 10 knots or less with no precipitation. We have a saying that "it is
better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than to be in the air wishing you
were on the ground." We are in touch with Flight Service right up until launch
time. Safety is our number one consideration.
|
How do we get back?
We are in radio
contact with our "chase vehicle" throughout the flight. Our experienced
chase crew will be at our landing sight. After packing up the balloon and our
customary champagne toast, we will drive you back to your vehicle. Your friends and
family are also welcome to join in the chase.
|
What should I wear?
Dress for the conditions
of the day. It is not colder aloft, in fact it is usually warmer. On warm
days the burners can be hot so caps are recommended, especially for tall persons.
The grass is usually wet on sunrise flights, so waterproof shoes are handy. Sandals
and high heels are not recommended.
|
Are cameras allowed?
Absolutely!! However,
we're not responsible for their safety. Oversized camcorders may not be allowed if
space does not permit.
|
| When do you fly and for how long?
We only fly
at sunrise and two hours prior to sunset, 7 days a week. This is when winds are the lightest.
Flights normally last 45 minutes to an hour. Plan on a total excursion of about
2-3 hours. Flights are scheduled April through mid October.
The minimum age is 12 years old and health restrictions may
apply. |
